Benjamin (Blackie) Dick (Sr.) was a Kwakwaka'wakw artist, working in two-dimensional designs and as a carver. He was married to Geraldine Dick (nee Dawson). Dick worked in Alert Bay helping to design the world's tallest totem pole, and designing and painting for the community Big House. He lived in Campbell River for a time during the 1960s. An artwork presented to Lieutenant Governor Nicholson in 1970, was made by himself and his father, Chief Kwaxsistala (Jimmy Dick).
