Mabel Dunham was the daughter of Emily Raper and John Paton Lawson. Emily's father, Benjamin Raper, had come to BC from Cornwall, England, to work as a miner. He married a woman whose father was a Government Agent (pre-1850). (The family name has since been changed to Rapier.)
