Dr. Susan Rowley graduated with a BA from the University of Toronto in 1978 and obtained a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1986. She then moved to the US to do post-doctoral research at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. She has been a MOA Curator and Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Anthropology, since 2001. Her research focuses on public archaeology, material culture studies, repatriation, intellectual property rights, and access to cultural heritage and museums. In July 2021 she became MOA's 5th Director.
