Christiane and her husband George Smyth became interested in contemporary Coast Salish art while living in Victoria, and began collecting; a large cedar carving titled "Salish Weave" by Susan Point, became their signature piece. Works of the Salish Weave Collection are now in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria.
