Picture Frame Item Number: 3660/34 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Heart-shaped picture frame made from blue-green felted wool (?) and red fabric over paper boards. The two layers of fabric-covered board are whip stitched together along the edge, with two white beads included with each stitch creating a white border. The front has some floral beadwork in small opaque or translucent beads. In the two rounded sections at the top of the heart are mirrored floral designs that feature a red and white flower alongside a yellow and white flower, with a pink bud and green leaves and stem. Between the mirrored designs is a small blue and white bead flower over pink sequins. At the bottom of the heart is a fully-opened flower with each petal a different colour: Red, white, yellow, green, pink and orange. Accompanying each floral design are short lines of translucent pink beads, two white beads, one larger blue bead, and a dark pink sequin. The circular cutout window is bordered by stitching with translucent pink beads. Hanging from the bottom of the heart is a beaded string, looped eight times, white with multicolour sections at each loop's lowest point. Twisted, colourful beaded strands are attached at the top for hanging. There is a pocket on the back.
