Drum1768/92 a-b

Circular drum with wooden frame. Skin attached to frame by thonging threaded through holes around outer edge. Six tension bands inside, all attached to small central block of wood. Painting of dogfish in centre. Part b is a drumstick: handle tapering toward padded head which is held in place by a leather thong wound around it.

Cantonese Opera Drum1704/6

Spherical wooden drum with two opposite sides covered with skin. Skin is attached to wood by metal rivets that ring the outer edge of the material. Two metal rings are attached on either side of the drum via two small holes in the wood.

Round drum with two flat sides formed from a single skin stretched around a wooden frame. The skin is sewn togeter around the edges of the drum with skin thong; a loop handle is attached to the stitching. red and brown marks are on one side.

A cylindrical wood drum with skin stretched over the top. Sides decorated with darkened grooved geometric patterns of triangles in squares along the top separated by vertical lines, below which there are seven horizontal lines, with the bottom having a horizontal dark band. The edges are painted orange. There is a fibre cord attached.

Double-sided skin drum with two thick wooden bands around the top and bottom edges; a band of fabric covers the sides of the drum between the two wooden bands. A short, knotted leather thong is attached at one side. Inscription in Cree on one of the drum skins.

Carved wood drum with an hourglass-like shape. There is a rounded, rectangular shaped handle on the side; opposite is a carved, cutout design of two bird figures. The central surface is detailed with an incised geometric design with white pigment in the cuts. Reptile skin is resting on the top of the drum; binding is missing.
