Guangxu tongbao (top-bottom-right-left) in Chinese characters on obverse; guwang left in Manchu, guang right in Chinese (mintmark), kuping top-right, left, yi qian bottom-right, left on reverse. Centre hole struck at wrong angle.

A chatelaine with a central flat rectangular panel of perforated brass with a raised design of nine coins at the centre with another above, flowers around the edges, two butterflies at either sides in between the top row of three coins, and the coin above, and two dragons at either sides on the top. The coins have various designs including fish, humans, birds, and animals. Strung on two double cords of yellow silk, each cord of which is then strung with a brass coin-like medal, ending in a red, orange, yellow, and green silk knot with five tassels. Five varied-coloured multiple-layered ribbons are also strung with medals at the bottom corners, and at the bottom centre, each decorated with five fabric flowers. Paint in some indentations.

Within two rings; Mr/ T.R/ 1761 in three lines in centre; r small; ornamented; diff die from that used for Eg322. Reverse has "from./ Secession/ Ch of/Colmonell" engraved in script (by hand-later ?). Edges exhibit very little flash from cutting.

Obverse has seated figure, smaller figure at right; denomination 1 cent below hole; Republique Francaise around top, mintmark a and symbols at bottom. Reverse has Indochine Francaise.1903 around dotted circle. 4 Chinese characters inside. Obverse has director's/engraver's symbols at bottom-torch and cornucopia.
