A ceramic jar painted with a bamboo tree in black on yellow-brown background. Also in same colour is the date, "K'ai yuen - 2nd year".
A ceramic cup (part a) with a wood stand (part b) that has four legs curled under. Exterior of cup is decorated with seven animal and Buddhist figures in blue and red (underglaze) in front of a leaf shape on a white background. Border composed of symbols of longevity also in same colours. Interior of cup has an abstract floral design in blue.
Rectangular wooden box with dovetail joints, a hinged lid and a lock. Lid features a carved landscape scene with polychrome ivory figures--all are elaborately carved, painted, and gilded. Inside, the underside of lid is covered with padded silk and the bottom is covered with grey velvet; the silk padding is marked "Arthur and Bond Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Yokohama." There may have been a tray inside at one time.
Wooden plaque with dragons in flight decorating the edges. Centre of plaque has golden characters addressed to General Kuan-ti (General of Three Kingdoms). All in relief. Predominant colours gold, blue, green and red. Executed in four detachable parts, all fitting into a matching carved base. Paper label on reverse reads: "Made in China."
Pair of identical compotes--circular plates with raised edges mounted on stems with a central, decorated bulge and rounded feet. Compotes are white with bands of floral design in polychrome and gold around the centre of the stem and the edge of the plate. A band of bamboo patterning in green, blue and gold circles the bottom edge of the foot. The centre of the plate features six characters in red--the seal of Ch'ien Lung--encircled by a polychrome floral pattern.
Circular, white porcelain plaque featuring a scene in blue of two figures--one on horseback--crossing a bridge. Plaque is enclosed within an elaborately carved, circular, wooden, frame-like structure that stands on six scrolling feet. Carved from the same wood in the same intricate, sinuous manner is a supportive stand (part b) for the plaque and wooden frame.
