Oval-shaped wooden plaque with figures carved in relief laid over the surface. Imagery consists of a legendary fu dog with inlaid glass eyes under a flowering peony. Colours are predominantly gold, blue, red and green. Two metal rings for hanging are attached on the reverse along the upper edge.
Frames rectangular panel with a figure carved in relief from ivory in the centre; seated Buddha in meditative position on lotus. Surrounding designs are lotus and clouds in gold on black wooden ground.
A vertically rectangular painted stone plaque of an outdoor scene with a scholar in a pavilion and two students resting just outside with a tree in the middle. Colours are red, green, brown, and white. All figures are carved and inlaid. The effect is of a stone bas-relief on a wooden ground. Has a dark brown-black wood frame with an ornate metalwork design at the top. Some stone pieces are cracked or loose.
Rectangular wooden box with dovetail joints, a hinged lid and a lock. Lid features a carved landscape scene with polychrome ivory figures--all are elaborately carved, painted, and gilded. Inside, the underside of lid is covered with padded silk and the bottom is covered with grey velvet; the silk padding is marked "Arthur and Bond Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Yokohama." There may have been a tray inside at one time.
Wooden plaque with dragons in flight decorating the edges. Centre of plaque has golden characters addressed to General Kuan-ti (General of Three Kingdoms). All in relief. Predominant colours gold, blue, green and red. Executed in four detachable parts, all fitting into a matching carved base. Paper label on reverse reads: "Made in China."
Circular, white porcelain plaque featuring a scene in blue of two figures--one on horseback--crossing a bridge. Plaque is enclosed within an elaborately carved, circular, wooden, frame-like structure that stands on six scrolling feet. Carved from the same wood in the same intricate, sinuous manner is a supportive stand (part b) for the plaque and wooden frame.
A glass snuff bottle (part a) that is painted inside with water, and forest scenes having figures engaged in various activities. There is a human with an ox-like animal on one side. Ther is a stopper (part b) that is made of green jade (?). The wood stand (part c) has the shape of an oval, and has four legs.
A small flattened bottle-shaped snuff bottle (part a) that is carved with two elephants in high relief on the shoulders, and is painted with a scene of two gold fish in a pond with poetry. Water weeds are incised in green while the fish are in red. There is a stopper (part b). The wood stand (part c) has the shape of an elongated oval, and has four legs.
Full length, elaborately carved female figure painted in detail (part a). Head is detachable and functions as stopper (part b); a short spoon is attached at the opposite end.
