From the collector’s notes: used with the duck carving A7861 in a dance.
Painted bird headdress, with a protruding beak at front centre. The mask is natural wood with features and designs painted on. The beak, forehead and area surrounding the eyes is green; the eyebrows are black; cheeks, eyelids and mouth are orange. Silver is used to detail the eyes, nostrils, checks and forehead. Red designs including half circles are on either side of the headdress. Above the face is a row of carved feathers decorated with orange and green triangles and silver circles. Baleen is attached to the back of the mask and is visible above the headdress. A brown textile, and red and printed strands, are attached to the back, creating a head cover. (Similar to A7859).
Triangular wooden rattle with a cylindrical handle. Sides are covered with strips of cedar bark and bound with a black lace.
Small, dagger-like knife (a) with sheath (b). Both handle and the end of the sheath have a notched design and three holes. Welded and forged steel, carved wood. Sheath made in two pieces and bound together by bands of sheet nickel. Simple curved handle with plain ferrule.
Long cylindrical piece of wood that tapers slightly at the ends with twined skin stretched from one end to the other and wrapped around the ends.
Unpainted wooden raven rattle constructed from two complementary parts joined at the handle. Reclining figure on raven's back connected to frog by protruding tongue. Back of tail has a small bird face. The rounded belly has a larger bird face with a recurved beak. The handle is bound in two places with thin, brown bark(?).
Book of the Qur'an. Each page is bordered in gold leaf and a red line. The front pages and the last page are intricately designed with many colours. Bound in a red cover with a flap to protect the pages. Inscription on inside flap.
A small red covered book of the Qur'an. Each page is bordered in gold leaf, a brown stripe, and a blue stripe. The red cover has an end flap, to guard the pages.
Irregular wood piece that bends at an angle while tapering at one end. Both ends have a knob around which string and bark cording are attached. Linear design in black consists of two horizontal bands around either end and pair of circles with tapering ovals around the natural elbow-like features where the piece bends at an angle.
Iron point bound to a bone tail by a thick rope-like string that loops over and through itself at the end.
