Ears are flush against head, and hair is pulled into an intricate braid that wraps around the back of her head. She is bent over a pot, resting on top of a ring of stones, and holding a seal skin. Woman is wearing a long parka, with flaps along the front and back, and pants tucked into tall boots. Parka has a large pouch on back that child is sitting in. Baby has oval-shaped eyes, wide nose, flat mouth, and is wearing a hooded jacket. Date made, syllabics, and additional numbers carved across base of carving; 'Eskimo art' tag and green pads adhered to base.

Her hood is emerging from a wide, flat rimmed hood or pouch, there is a smaller faceless head behind. Both heads have lines indicating hair. Her face slopes down to a straight mouth. She has oval eyes, triangular nose and diagonal creases below her cheeks. Her garment is cut up at sides and the pouch has two bulges in back. 'E9696' inscribed on base.
