Front legs have rounded sides and are spread apart; hind legs are close together and rectangle-like. Hind legs are shorter than front, giving bear a crouching appearance. Artist signature in syllabics inscribed on belly.

Stylized, long-necked bird form with long tapering beak. Body is a truncated oval which tapers to back and is flat across bottom. Carving marks are evident overall. Three characters on the bottom.

Bear standing up with one leg back and one forward. One forelimb is raised and the other is down at the side. Multiple notches on feet indicate claws and there are four channel-like notches on the front paws. Small tapering head on top with narrow, flat snout at front, small pointed ears to back, top. Incised circular eyes. Rounded torso and legs. Carving or file marks are distinguishable. Black patches on back, especially across shoulders.
