Bevel-edge chisel with blue plastic handle. Handle has maker's name 'Marples'. Blade has engraved information, 'HAND FORGED 1/3 mm 1/2" SHEFFIELD ENGLAND'. Part b is a small grey plastic edge guard for the tip of the blade. Marked with maker's name,'marples england' on one side and measurements on the other side.
Part a: rectangular blade, soldered to metal piece wrapped around handle. Diagonal cut at opposite end. Sharpened part of blade tapered. Part b: rounded wooden handle tapered at bottom. Handle has wooden wedge in split at top, perhaps to fix the blade, which is loose.
Half-round milled tooth file, with grooves on both the round and the flat side. The handle narrows to a square tip, and has a maker's mark stamped into it; 'NICHOLSON U.S.A.' 'Made in U.S.A. SUPERIOR STANDARD'. Near the maker's mark is a hand-written five point star of blue ink.
Flat file (bastard cut), in a shaped wood handle stamped 'Made in Brazil' by manufacturer, 'OREGON'. Blade is marked 'OREGON Swiss Made'.
Chainsaw file (thin and round), in a brown wooden handle. Filing surface covers all of the file except 1 cm at tip and where the file connects to the handle. "MADE IN BRAZIL" and "OREGON" are inscribed on handle; blade bears the inscription "OREGON 5/32 SWISS MADE DQ".
Double-sided leather strop. Piece of wood with handle shaped at one end. There is a hole through each end. Grooves along two sides of the object. Two leather pieces, the strops, are glued to sides. Leather is mainly stained green (through use) from a honing compound.
Wooden mallet with hole at base of handle. Flared handle fits through head of mallet and is held in place with two round-head nails under head. Blue and gold maker's label on side of mallet head with name and image of gold crown, 'CROWN TOOLS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND'.
Large curved adze. The metal head is flared and curved and mostly painted blue. There is a white mark on the flat side of the head. The long, slightly curved handle is made of plain wood, secured to the head with black-brown cord and a metal peg(?) inside the wood. Partial remains of a blue label under the white paint. There is a stamped maker's mark on the underside of adze head.
Hand-made adze with a wooden handle made from a tree branch; bark is removed only at the tip and head of handle. The blade fits into carved space and is bound to handle with black-brown twine. A material that appears to be thick cardboard, along with some pieces of wood, is wedged between the blade and the mount. The back of the adze head has a small section of white paint on it.
