Headrest3420/72

Headrest carved from a single piece of wood. The upper surface is flat and smooth, and curves upwards on either side. There are downward axe-shapes protruding at both ends. The headrest is four-legged, with all legs clustered at the centre - two at centre leaning to one side, and two end legs leaning in the opposite direction.

Three-legged headrest carved from a single piece of wood. The upper surface has a slight curve to the side, and it tapers in at each end. The wood has been hammered with small circles all over on one side, with less on the opposite side.

Amulet3420/66

Rectangular metal amulet with concave or "pinched" sides. The amulet contains layers of rectangles, diamonds, and triangles in silver with gold and copper. A raised silver sphere is set at centre. The front is etched with geometric designs and script. Strung on a braided brown leather cord, which attaches at both upper corners of the amulet. Two large dark purple, teal and yellow leather tassels hang on either side of the amulet, and are each wrapped with black and white checkerboard pattern bands and other colours.

Mask3420/63

Human face mask with bright pink skin, and headdress with long ends that flips out to the sides. Mask has slit eye holes cutout with black marks underneath. They have thin rounded black eyebrows, black lips, and there are four vertical black lines on the forehead and three dots on each cheek. The black lips extend into a line down the chin.

Long, thin tunic heavily embroidered with four sections of repeating geometric designs that are bilaterally symmetrical. A thick band of red with smaller bands of white and black divides the tunic vertically. V-neck, and open on sides. Bottom edged with white fabric.

Hand Puppet3350/4

Joey the Clown puppet. Hand puppet of the Joey the Clown character, from a Punch and Judy puppet set. Head and hands carved from wood. Hands are beige. Face is painted white with a red nose, lips and triangles on the cheeks and forehead. Red lines and dots are painted around the light blue eyes. Black eyebrows painted in a semi-circle over eyes. Three large, black pom-poms glued to top of head for hair. Character is wearing a white ruffled shirt over its white fabric body. Shirt has frilled collar, epaulettes and hemline. Ruffles are trimmed with silver, red and dark blue wavy lines. Sun-like shape in centre of shirt. Shape is a red circle, with a dark blue outline and silver triangles protruding from it. Metal ring along bottom edge of body opening. Operated by inserting hand inside the body of the puppet to control the head and hands.

Puppet Prop3350/11 a-b

Sausage machine prop (part a) and sausage links (part b), from a Punch and Judy puppet set. Sausage machine is an open-backed wooden, rectangular box with plastic tubes on the top and front. Tube on box front is thinner than the one on top. Semi-circular sticker above tube on front reads “Sausomatic.” Word is written in rainbow colours. Yellow crank handle on left side of box. Sausage links are stuffed and made of pink fabric. Seven sausages in link. Operated by inserting sausage links into tube at front of machine, from the back, and manually feeding them through. Handle would be cranked simultaneously.

Hand Puppet3350/5

Toby the Dog puppet. Hand puppet of the Dog character, from a Punch and Judy puppet set. White, fuzzy fabric body with black spots across it. Has a stuffed tail on its back, a stuffed leg on either side of its body and two long, floppy ears on its head. Wearing a dark blue ruffled collar, with a wavy line of silver trim along the bottom edge. Mouth, eyes and nose carved from wood. Heart shaped nose is painted black. Eyes have large black pupils and dark brown irises, with white spots in them. Mouth interior painted black and pink. Edges of mouth interior are beige and have teeth painted on them in white. Metal ring along top edge of body opening. Operated by inserting hand inside the body of the puppet to control its jaw movements.
