Basket2998/6

A small open basket, which is round at the mouth and square at the base. Body weave of the basket is over one/under one. There are six coloured strands woven into the body of the basket. There is a band of red between two bands of dark brown, with each band of colour made up of two strands of bark. In between each band of colour there is a strip of light brown bark. The rim of the basket has a different weave pattern and is thicker than the body. The square base is of the same weave as the body, made from wider strands of bark than the body.

Tall round oblong basket with handles. Bottom of basket is rectangular in shape. As weaving goes higher, corners are more rounded, creating an oval shape at the lip of the basket. Body weave of the basket is over one/under one. There are ten coloured strands woven into the body of the basket. They are red and black and alternate in an every other pattern in groups of five. The lip of the basket is done in a different weave pattern than the body of the basket. The handles are long. They are double twisted and secured through two holes in the body of the basket and green thread is used to tie them off.
