The Fifty-Three Post Stations of the Tokaido HighwayN2.1135

Print of three people standing on a path next to a grassy area. There are two birds standing amongst the grass. A large mountain and several smaller mountains are in the background. Print of Hara Station (#13). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy." from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: "Hara A wife and a daughter of the Samurai, with a man-servant. The mountain in the foreground may be Mt. Ashitaka. Mt. Fuji reaches above the frame-line." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ Otsu This is the fifty-third station of the series, and is famous as a lake-side station. From Otsu, along the former Tokaido to Sanjo at Kyoto, there is a street-car running today." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.
