Sake ContainerN2.1072 a-b

Sake cask, or container, (part a) called sashidaru (指樽) with two scrolling decorative elements on the top, six ornamental brass bosses at each end, and one brass ring as well as a protruding stopper (part b) with a polyhedron finial that has a brass ring on one side face. There is a recessed cavity at each end. Black lacquer with red lacquer edges on the sides and top edges of the scrolling decorative elements, and the polyhedron finial is composed of black lacquer square faces joined by red lacquer equilateral triangular faces with a black lacquer shaft.

Sake ContainerN2.335 a-b

Sake container. Cylindrical and slightly tapered from top to bottom, with a metal handle on the side. The container's staves are held together with twisted bands of bamboo, two at the top and three at the bottom, and lid has a plugged opening. A stopper (part b), also a tapered cylinder, fits into a hole in the top of the container near the edge. The top of the container is red lacquer with a black lacquer edge, and the sides as well as the bamboo are stained reddish-brown and coated in varnish.

Cape composed of various feathers of brown, white, red, and green in a checkered design on an openwork twining weave. The plant fibre twining is carried in pairs with pitch in opposite directions on a weft of dark brown human hair. The feather ends are caught under the rows of plant fibre twining with the tips protruding downward. A heavy three-strand braid of dark brown hair runs across the top. There is a plant fibre cordage tie at each top corner.

Silver bottle that has a bulbous shape around the bottom and a long, upward flaring, cylindrical neck with a a lid attached by a wire chain. Geometric plant motifs in bands. Main design around the middle of the bulbous lower portion consists of a vertical oval pattern band bordered by floral motifs and key-like patterns. At either ends of the neck, there is a horizontal border band design that consists of a key-like pattern and an inward pointing, petal-like pattern. The lid has multiple concentric petal-like patterns with a long knob at the top.

Replica gold weight. Two bronze birds mounted on a wooden base. The birds have rounded eyes with a horizontal slit across the middle. Four cylindrical projections come from the head. The concentric circular wings rest at either side. While the bodies of the birds face each other in the middle, their beaks are turned backward toward their flat, angled tails. The base of each bird is attached to a long, thin four-stepped bronze pedestal, which is attached to the plain wooden base.
