The purple damask is woven containing a cloud motif and the Eight Immortal symbols. On the edges of the skirt is a black border with a second border of floral motif on cream ground. On the pleats is a black border, some with an added floral trim. On the front and back panels are appliqué phoenix, bat, peony, vase, coin, fan and sword motifs in pink, red, gold, green and blue. The inside is lined with blue silk.

Trees, foliage and water features are seen throughout, and a bridge sits near the bottom. This panel is attached to a densely patterned framing cloth and the rear of the object is pink cotton.

Two skirt panels, vertical orientation. The panels are blue silk with a pattern of flowers and vines. The centre portion is tightly pleated. The bottom left half is embroidered with birds, flowers, leaves, and a butterfly. An elaborate embroidered border accompanies the scene. The tops of the panels are made of light coloured cotton, with fabric clothing attachments. The rear left third of each panel is lined with a darker blue silk. Part ‘a’ has a partial black stamp in the front top left corner. The panels are almost identical in construction and embroidery. Colours are light blue, light yellow-white, green, pink, yellow, purple, light brown, blue and black.

Two large red and black embroidered appliques adhered to horizontally rectangular paper. The left applique shows a branch with foliage, plum blossoms, and a phoenix about to take flight with wings and tail feathers extended. The right applique has a branch with foliage and plum blossoms along its length, with an especially large and detailed blossom to the far left. A phoenix stands on the branch, wings held close to the body.

Orange vertically rectangular silk panel with embroidery image, adhered to paper. The paper covers the entire back of the panel, and the front edges. Embroidery shows a human figure wearing a long blue robe with pants underneath, and a purple and green scarf at wrists and down legs. The figure also wears an elaborate headdress, and is barefoot. A peacock is behind the figure, with head to the left and tail feathers to the right. The two are surrounded by oval embroidered shapes on top and both sides. Couching in gold wrapped thread; embroidery in green, dark blue, light brown, brown, purple, light blue, gold and yellow.

Military rank badge. Square embroidered silk panel with both gold and silver couching. The central figure is a lion embroidered onto a separate piece of fabric and sewn onto the panel. The background is a sequence of semi-regular patterns with ocean motifs interspersed, such as sea creatures, a shell, plant life. A border edges the panel and has a repeating pattern. The panel is sewn to a plain blue silk backing piece. On the backing fabric, sewn to the lower right corner is a small paper with the inscription “Lion, Military official of the second rank.” Colours are blue, light blue, gold, black, green, orange, and a very pale light blue.
