Christening Hat3048/3 c

Christening cap made of two layers of sheer fabric. The upper layer is gathered into small, loose pleats where it attaches to the lower. The cap is cream-coloured with cream-coloured embroidery in a vine and leaf design and scalloped, embroidered edges on both layers of fabric. The object has two large white ribbon roses and a long white ribbon bow attached to the front where the two sheer layers meet.

Slip for child's christening gown. The slip is made from white cotton and is undecorated. The garment fastens at the top with two metal snaps. The sleeveless slip is gathered around the neckline and is slightly pleated and tapered towards the bottom.

Christening Dress3048/3 a

Christening gown with collar. The dress is cream-coloured with embroidered decoration down front and back in panels. The bottom hem is in a stepped scallop shape with embroidered designs. On either side of the central back panel of embroidery are four sets of white mesh ribbons set into the fabric. The top back section of the bodice is embroidered with a large floral design with mesh insets. Two large white ribbon roses are fixed to the seam of the bodice and the skirt. The collar consists of two layers of sheer fabric embroidered around the borders and ties with a white satin ribbon. The lower layer also has an inset of white mesh ribbon, and both layers have scalloped and embroidered edges. The front of the dress fastens with two small pearlescent plastic buttons. The sleeves of the gown are gathered at the cuffs and have scalloped, embroidered edges.

Striped cotton jacket or heavy blouse. Decorated with striped patterns in alternating white, blue, red, yellow and green stripes. The thickest stripes of green, blue, red and white have interior stripes decorated in different colours in a zigzag pattern. The collar, front fastening panel and hem are patterned with thin, alternating stripes of all the colours, as are the fringes of the sleeves. The front fastens by means of seven black metal snaps.

Striped composite textile with six panels of different fabrics stitched together to form a single, large blanket. Two thin, multi-coloured and vertically striped panels form borders on either edge. The central area consists of two panels of the same fabric joined in the middle by a seam. These panels consist of alternating white, black, and red stripes with smaller connecting stripes alternating green, yellow and red. The red stripes are embellished with red embroidery in the shape of vertical lines, six-pointed stars, thick x-shapes and abstract figures of beings. On either side of these central panels there is thick embroidery in black, red, yellow and green forming repeating sections of horizontal lines interspersed with abstract floral or star shapes. The two panels attached above and below the central panels are of the same fabric and consist of alternating red and black stripes with a thicker black stripe towards the edge and a thin yellow border. The black stripes are embellished with embroidered zigzag and diamond designs.

Painted hollow wood drum covered with skin held in place by two ringed bands of flower patterned fabric. From the larger cylindrical upper portion, the drum has a smaller ringed section and an outward and downward flaring base. The upper portion from top to bottom has the following: a horizontal band of upward pointing red triangles; a horizontal, rounded, yellow band; a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved yellow and red semi-circles; a horizontal yellow band of vertical grooves; a horizontal, rounded, green band; and a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved yellow and red semi-circles. The smaller ringed section has a central horizontal, rounded, red band with a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved green semi-circles at either end surrounded by a horizontal red zig zag-like band and a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved yellow semi-circles along the border at either end. At either end of this central design of the smaller ringed section, there is a horizontal, rounded, red band with a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved yellow semi-circles along the border at either end. Painted green in the plain bands in between these designs of the smaller ringed section. The base has downward pointing red triangles; a green band; a horizontal yellow band of vertical grooves; a horizontal wood 'fringe' of carved red semi-circles; and a plain horizontal, rounded band.

Very large, slightly curved sword with an ornately decorated hilt and wooden scabbard. Grip is covered with engraved golden metal and raised decorative rings; large, curvilinear ivory pommel; curling cross-guard. Wooden scabbard has: a thick, wide cross-piece at the top with pointed ends; five pierced metal bands with floral designs, evenly spaced along the length of the sheath; a curving, bulbous tip.
