Box1262/158 a-b

Round box with blue and black designs on grey-blue ground. Bottom (part a) has glazed interior and part of exterior; designs on outside are of vines encompassed by thick lines on top and bottom; another thin line right below the rim; raised lip to keep lid in place. Top (part b) is domed and has black pattern in a wide band around circumference; thin blue and black lines are on either side of the main pattern; top has a raised flower with a small handle in centre.

Painted Mat1262/284

Very long wovan mat, with braided long edges, painted with mainly geometric and linear designs, all in yellow, white, green, red, and black. Centre band of diamond shapes runs lengthwise through mat, and is bordered by a band of zigzags. These divide the mat into upper and lower halves. At each end the motifs are the same in upper and lower, concentric diamonds within a square, within elaborate square borders. Next panel on upper half is a two-storey building, branches and leaves in background. Lower half has rectangular band like that in centre, and is bordered by same design in different colouring, mostly yellow, green and white with red outline. At centre of mat on upper half is yellow panel of a vase with leaves and flowers in background, outlined in white. This panel is flanked by panel of white 'X' outlined in red, on a yellow background in a square also oulinted in red and white. Elaborate square borders surround. Lower half has panel similar to those at ends, concentric diamonds on a green background within a square and surrounded by elaborate square borders. Patterns repeat after centre panels. Reverse side is plain except for inscription in red paint that is difficult to decipher.

Jar1262/280

Jar with round base and wall that flares out to short vertical body. Shoulder is almost flat on an upward slant; neck is short and straight; opening is much smaller than body diameter. Body is decorated with two rows of scalloping at top and bottom edges and band of vertical incised lines at centre encompassed by two recessed bands. Shoulder is decorated with stamped bows and cross-like flowers at edges; inside these designs is a band of incised half circles with stamped dot fill attached to a thin band; inside this band is a band of triangles whose bases together form and other thin band about 1.5 cm from the base of the neck.

Container1262/273 a-b

Brown coloured tube-like container (part a) with braided rope wrapped around one end, braided rope and woven grass(?) wrapped around the centre, and a woven lid (part b) attached to the other end. Attached to two rattan(?) loops are braided rattan links that create a shoulder strap.

Oval-shaped container (part a) that narrows at the top and has a small inserted lid (part b). Outer surface of container is covered with widely stitched braided rows of rattan(?) on the top and bottom and has a tightly stitched band around the centre and near the top. A braided linked shoulder strap is attached to two metal loops on the body of the container near the top of the piece.

Rectangular-shaped woven bag with leather(?) shoulder strap. Top of bag curves in the centre and widens near the bottom. Double-lined and spaced woven designs are around the perimeter at top of bag. Shoulder straps are looped through thick grass(?) bands on the sides and at the bottom of the bag.

Black-brown coloured basket with lid. Body of the basket slopes down from the lid and widens. Approximately one quarter of the way down, the rest of the body gradually narrows towards the base then slightly curves out. Near the lid on either side of the body of the basket are two metal wire loops that attach to a long braided grass(?) cord. A smaller braided grass(?) cord is strung from the larger grass cord to the top of the lid, connecting the two.
