Mmwo helmet mask. Carved from a single piece of wood, the mask depicts a female face with a large ornate coiffure. The face is painted white with decorative green and black patterns on the cheeks and brows. There are small rounded red ears with green circular plugs(?), small cutout eyes, and a small grinning red mouth with teeth showing. The top piece is decorated with incised concentric ovoid's and lines on the hair, with a black crest with red cutout zigzag detailing between the arch and the 'hair'. Around the lower rim of the mask are evenly spaced holes.
Carved wooden animal (hyena?) mask. There are two large almond-shaped red eyes on the front of the head, with two small holes drilled through the pupils. Two dark blue-black pointed ears extend up at the top of the head. The creature has a long snout, with white teeth lining the slightly open mouth. The mouth is outlined in red and dark blue-black, with the red extending down on to the teeth at the front. A plain wooden collar extends back from the head, and has holes drilled through it. The mask is painted with dots of red, royal blue and white, and black lines horizontally across the snout.
Tall carved staff, with a kneeling, nude, male figure atop a large pedestal, of almost equal height, at the bottom. The figure holds a long-barreled firearm across the front of his body, and an infant on his back. He has a round head with round protruding features, and a long hairstyle that extends down his behind him and is decorated with calabash(?). On the side of each leg is a knife. The pedestal is somewhat cylindrical at the top, before expanding and tapering three times towards the bottom. The top of the pedestal is wrapped by snakes, and two lizards flank the sides.
Large staff built on a wood armature with an iron blade (part a) and phallic handle (part b) with loose coiled metal (part c). The wooden hilt is studded, wrapped in iron with iron cap. The blade tapers in towards the tip. Towards the top there is a small square cutout with a cross etched on each side. Above and below, the thin area is wrapped in iron. The blade itself is also etched with various designs, however the metal is rusted.
Staff or dance wand. Wooden carving depicting a male figure standing next to a sacrificial ram. The figure holds a double axe in his right hand. His elongated head sits at an angle on his short neck. He has large almond eyes, and six horizontal lines on each cheek. Extending up from his head is a large ornate double axe-shaped headdress that curves down to points on each side. The figures stand on a square platform with carved diagonal lines around the sides and a plain cylindrical handle beneath.
Fertility figure (akuaba) with a flat, disc-shaped head sitting on a long cylindrical neck that slightly curves forward. The lower rounded portion of the face has small horizontal oval eyes with a slit across the middle, two horizontal lines on each cheek, and a small smiling mouth. The raised oval forehead extends down into a long vertical nose and arched brow ridge. The upper edge has a raised arch. The abstract conical arms mimic the shape of the small pointed breasts. The lower half of the body is cylindrical, with an inward bend on the lower back, ending with an anvil-shaped base.
Dance mask composed of tightly woven plant fibres. The mask has a conical top that extends down completely covering the face. Five square holes woven in for the eyes, ears and mouth. The edges are wrapped with strips of fibre. A length of unwoven fibres extend from the top point. The exterior of the mask is completely covered with strings of abrus seeds. Hanging from the bottom edge around the entire mask are fifteen strings of abrus seeds with a tuft of cotton, and seven more smaller strings and smaller tufts hang across the mouth.
Circular ivory bangle bracelet with rounded sides. The upper edge tapers in while the bottom edge is flat. Just below the upper edge, decorated with three rows of small holes inset with tiny metal studs. The inside has a dark brown patina.
Small hand bell with a small flat-headed humanoid figure as a handle. The bell gradually widens to the rim, which has a single decorative belt. The body is decorated with two simple human faces, each facing opposite directions. The body clearly shows how the bell was formed with a very apparent seam. The metal clapper is composed of a series of three different metal loops attached to one another - the second appearing to be a more recent addition.
Headdress carved from a single piece of wood. The wood has been stained black, with the carved areas revealing a light brown. The base is dome-shaped, and is carved with rows of zigzags around the exterior. A high arched crest extends from the top, slightly extending beyond the dome, with a cutout upside-down V-shape, leaving a triangle underneath. The crest is decorated with carved geometric designs: repeating V's, lines, triangles, crosshatching and X's.
