Model Totem Pole1768/78

Model totem pole. From bottom, seated figure holding knees, then a horizontal whale with its tale flukes carved into two bird heads, then a thunderbird with wings outstretched and head turned facing opposite direction of whale. Whale appears fitted in place. Thunderbird's wings screwed onto back. Small painting of a whale on front of base. Pole is nailed to base.

Carved, hollow, wooden, model totem pole with base. From bottom, human, then a beaver with a stick in its mouth, then an eagle with a human in beak and a bear on top. Bear on top is attached with a wooden peg.

Round wooden disc with a hole perforating its center and two fragments missing from its edge. The dorsal surface is slightly concave and has an incised, sylized design, which is unfinished. The ventral surface is convex and the central hole is its highest point. The central hole is slightly off centre. The surface of the wood is rough.

Rounded, wooden disc with a hole perforating the center. One surface is slightly concave and the other is slightly convex. The convex surface has two darkened parallel lines along one side. Both sides have small chisel marks on their surfaces. The wood is a red-brown colour with darkened areas.

Round wooden spindle whorl with a hole in its centre. The top surface is convex with a flat ring around the hole and is painted with animal designs: raven and killer whale. The whales are predominantly orange with yellow accents, while the ravens are blue with orange accents. The back is slightly concave (with a small leather strap nailed into wood).

Model canoe (a), with 2 figures (b-c), 2 paddles (d-e), 1 mast (f). Outside of canoe painted with Norhtwest coast designs. Figure b is seated and has long hair with crosshatching and is wearing a red stove pipe hat. Figure c is seated, has a prominent nose and is wearing a black hat with six raised scallops. Parts d and e are carved paddles with "T" shaped handles. Paddles painted black with three sets of red diagonal lines. Part f is a carved mast, with carved ends. Both figures have stamped/incised letters on bottom.

Rounded wooden disc with hole in centre. The dorsal surface is slightly concave, while the ventral surface is convex with the central hole being the highest point. There are four lines incised into the convex side, directly around the central hole, which radiate out in four different directions. The wood is a reddish brown colour, and is darker in the area surrounding the opening for the spindle.
