Heddle PulleyAf515

Heddle pulley with handle in the shape of an animal (a gazelle?) with a long neck, long pointed horns, and a torso that shapes the bottom of the pulley. A metal rod is attached through the two legs at the bottom of the torso. There are five disks strung onto the metal rod and hang in between the two curved legs.

Head that tapers to a rounded point near the chin. Raised ridge of braided incised grooves denote hair at the top face. The facial features include a pronounced forehead, oval-shaped eyes, a small button nose, and pursed lips. The upper lip is larger than lower lip. Small ears protrude slightly from each side of the head. The top of the head curves upwards slightly.

Fibre cording is wrapped around the neck of the figure several times and hangs to the side. Incised lines on the head to denote hair. Fertility figure (akuaba) with a flat, disc-shaped head, which has a high oval forehead, curved upraised brows, small horizontal oval eyes with a horizontal slit along the middle, a long vertical nose, and a small mouth at the bottom of the face. Multiple thin rings are carved around the neck. The arms are truncated off with small pointed breasts below. The lower half of the body is cylindrical with a navel and ends with a base at the bottom.

Three oval grooved marks on the forehead, and on each cheek. Arms are at the sides. Slight breasts, and a naval. Has a blue beaded necklace, and a blue, black, and clear orange-yellow beaded necklace. Its left arm has a string of cowrie shell, and blue, and red beads. Doll has a loin cloth carved with panels and stands straight on a circular pedestal.

Stands on circular pedestal with diamond pattern carved on base.
