NecklaceA8130

Necklace strung with dentalium shells and glass beads. The dentalium shells are strung in pairs, doubled side by side. They are followed by one or two blue beads, then several smaller clear glass beads, and then one or two of the larger blue beads. The glass beds are strung in a single row.

Dark brown, canoe-shaped dish carved from a single piece of wood. Surfaces are covered with adze marks. The ends of the dish are slanted with slightly concave exteriors and convex interiors, while the longer sides of the dish have slightly convex exteriors and concave interior surfaces.

Dance DrumA8137 a-b

Circular drum (a) with attached drumstick (b). The drum hide is stretched over a circular wooden frame and secured by nails. It still has some fur remaining on one side. On the back, leather thongs with a bone secured in centre form a handgrip. An eagle with raised wings is painted in black, white, ygrey and yellow against an abstract background of blue, red, off-white and black. The drumstick consists of a a spherical head covered in off-white skin, a cylindrical wooden shaft, and a strip of brown leather fastened around the shaft with the ends split into several thinner strips.

Dance DrumA8138 a-b

Circular drum (a) made from deer hide stretched over circular wooden frame with seven lengths of cord meeting at back. A hand-hold is created at the back from cloth. The wooden rim is steamed, bent, and nailed. The drum is painted with two eagles and a man wearing Plains-style headdress and clothing. The matching drum stick (b) is carved and has a cloth head secured by off-white string. Some brown cord is also wrapped around the handle.

Bird RattleA8047

Rattle in the shape of an eagle with inlayed abalone shell eyes and a face carved on its underside. The wings that extend upward from the top of the body have bird's heads depicted along their proximal edges, and defined feathers. The body of the bird is incised with crescent-shaped and short straight lines. The hooked beak is also engraved with a crescent shape. The face on the underside of the bird has an open mouth with eight visible teeth, and two oval-shaped eyes which are outlined and capped with eyebrows. A faint line is visible along the lower portion of the bird where the two pieces were glued together after the pebbles were inserted. The rattle has a dark brown finish. The letter "A" is carved on top of the eagles head with an oval shape directly below it.

Engraved, gold plated pin converted to a pendant. Design has an irregular outline. In the centre of the pin is an inverted shield shape with a small ring at the proximal end. A curvi-linear shape, with bilateral symmetry, extends across the centre of this inverted shield. The design is abstract. Two sets of engraved lines parallel the edges of these two components creating a decorative finish. The back has a flat finish.

Undecorated silver ring, flat and tapered. Band of ring widens on one side, and the surface has two parallel defacing marks; previously split and mended on interior surface.
