Retablo Altar2738/200

Brightly painted, large, portable "retablo" box altar. Two doors on leather hinges and painted on both sides in red, yellow,and black, open with red and white striped ribbons, from the centre outwards, to show two levels of small painted plaster figures and animals arranged into two scenes. On the top is a Nativity scene with the Three Kings and numerous shepherds while, on the bottom, is a scene of celebration with male and female musicians, acrobats, dancers, animals and food on a table. The exterior of the box is painted with red square and dot filled diamond shapes against a white background.

Religious charm made from a picture of the 'Nino of Atocha' wrapped in plastic. The picture is pasted onto the centre of a red paper-covered rectangle of wood and a variety of large and small seeds and garlic cloves pasted onto the red border create a colourful frame in yellow, red, brown, black and white. Three gold coloured coins and two long brown seeds are stuck to a horse shoe wrapped in red ribbon that sits on top of the picture like an arch.
