Bag2813/66

An oblong, tightly woven basket bag with two braided straps tied together at the ends. The base yellow-white colour of the undyed cabuya fibre has been decorated with seven single-colour horizontal stripes. The stripes have been placed in the following order: dark blue, green, dark blue, purple, yellow, red, green. A multi-coloured circle has been woven on the bottom of the bag. This circle is dark blue, yellow, green, and red. The straps have been braided with green, purple, and undyed cabuya fibre strands.

Bag2813/68

An oblong, tightly woven basket bag with four braided straps. The base colour of the bag is the dark yellow-white of the undyed cabuya fibre. The bag displays a geometric pattern in brown, dark orange, and black. This pattern consists of rhomboidal arrow shapes, stepped rectangles, and stripes. The straps are braided with strands of brown, dark orange, black, and undyed cabuya fibre. The straps are thicker at the base, where they attach to the bag, and then they taper to thin coiled ends.

Shawl2813/10

A multi-coloured fiesta shawl made with a base yellow-white cotton fibre. The shawl contains two borders of embroidered animals, men, and men on horseback wearing triangular hats with crosses. Below the animals in the border is a broad stripe of multi-coloured, machine-stitched embroidery patterns. Both ends of the shawl have been finished with multi-coloured acrylic pom-poms. The animal imagery was drawn on the cloth with red pen and then these drawings were stitched by hand and with a sewing machine. The imagery on one end, from left-to-right: bird, dog, man with gun, animal, animal with antlers, animal, bird with elaborate feathers, bird, horse, man on horse with hat. The imagery from the other end, from left-to-right: text "Fin", man with hat, animal, bird with elaborate feathers, bird, dog, animal with antlers, dog, horse, man on horse with hat.

A gold coloured, metal straight pin with an oval-shaped finial holding a piece of blue glass. The finial has been created with seven scallop shapes around the outside. The neck of the shaft protrudes on one side, and this small protrusion contains a small, circular hole. A zigzag pattern of incised line radiates out from the finial centre to each of the scalloped edges, across the neck of the pin, and part way down the shaft. This same pattern has been applied to both sides of the pin.

A gold coloured, metal straight pin with a lion head finial. The oval shape of the pin and the scalloped edges can be interpreted as the representation of the lion's head and mane. The raised oval and raised triangle in the centre of the pin represent the lion's face and nose. Three incised dots represent the animal's eyes and mouth. Three horizontal lines have been incised across the neck of the pin. The neck also contains a metal protrusion on one side, with a circular hole in it. The reverse side of the finial has been engraved with radiating lines that represent the back of the lion's mane. The reverse also contains two incised horizontal lines.

A gold coloured, metal straight pin with a bird finial depicted in profile, looking back over its wing. The head of the bird contains a tuft and its tail is long. A zigzag incised line design has been applied to the neck, wing, and tail of the bird. This zigzag design continues down the shaft. The neck of the shaft displays a protrusion on one side with a circular hole in the middle of it.

Necklace2813/43

Choker-style necklace created with four strands of cotton fibre with red beads, metal beads, Ecuadorian coins, Columbian coins, a medal depicting the Virgin Mary, and a few beads in blue, yellow, purple, green and pink. There is a metal cross in the middle of the necklace, and two coloured stones (one red and one green) have been attached to it with metal prongs. The cotton fibre has been braided at the ends of the necklace to form a tie.

Ring2813/44

A silver ring with a plain band that divides at the front to create a "V" shape on either side. The divided band on the front supports a square, red piece of glass or gem on either side, and this piece of glass (or gem) is bordered with twelve small silver balls. There is faint evidence of several incised, decorative lines that were engraved near the "v" sections of the band. An Ecuadorian five-cent coin from 1937 was added to the ring, supported by three small metal rings over the gem. The text on the coin reads: "Republica Del Ecuador 1937, 5 Centavos".

A straight pin made from gold-coloured metal and two pieces of transparent, white-grey glass(?). There is an oval-shaped finial in the middle with a hollow centre, and there is a piece of glass(?) on each side of the finial. Between the glass is a partial oval of thin metal with an irregular-shaped piece missing, allowing partial view through the centre. One of the glass(?) pieces is broken and the top half is missing. The neck of the finial shaft protrudes on one side and has a circular hole in the centre of the protrusion. A zigzag pattern of incised lines radiates from the centre of the finial to the edge of the finial. This pattern continues across the neck and part of the way down the shaft.
