Flat, animal shaped pendant with stringing hole through centre of body. Head and tail are demarcated by grooves in the surface; mouth and eyes are also indicated by grooves. Top of head has a groove on it along crown.

A paper mache mask which fits over the head. It is a girl's pink face with red rosy cheeks, forehead, and chin. The eyebrows are painted black, and the hair is painted greyish-purple. Black hair is used for the looped-tails at the sides which are tied with pink ribbons at the tops and at the ends. The eyes are cut out and covered with painted mesh wire.

Bentwood Box804/6 a-c

Bentwood box, fastened with cedar bark at seam, with base (part a), lid (part b) and woven cedar pouch inside (part c). Outside edges of lid and base covered in red ochre; traces of ochre over entire outer surface. Two sides each have two small holes for handles of which only a small piece remains.

Rectangular embroidered panel with five bands surrounding the centre picture section. The thin outside band is black. The thick second band is a geometric pattern with pink and blue flowers on a tan background. The third band is very thin and red. The fourth band is gold. The fifth band is tiny green, black, blue and red flowers on a white background. The centre section has a yellow and red butterfly hovering above blue, pink and red flowers with green blades of grass on a gold background. The panel is backed by a piece of green silk.

Large rectangular piece of thin, muslin-like, tie-dyed cotton. Fabric has been folded in four and covered with elaborate patterns of knot-like resist ties that penetrate all four layers of folded cotton, giving the material a puckered appearance. The outer border of the fabric has been dyed red, while the rectangular centre is a deep blue. In fourteen spots on the blue ground, larger amounts of material have been tied into clear plastic, resisting the blue dye and showing a red colour.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.775

The folded opera hat or lotus seed servant's hat is blue and narrow with a red fabric ball on top. The base is rectangular and edged in black. The sides slope inwards to a point with the red ball on top. The sides of the hat each fold inward twice. The inside of the hat is white and stiffened with cardboard. Two wide, white ties are attached.
