Painting of a battle scene between light skinned men in historically styled uniforms bearing swords, some riding horses, and darker skinned men in loin cloths, some in headbands, carrying axes, spears, daggers and torches. The scene takes place in a forest at night. In the foreground are several fallen and injured men from both sides of the battle, as well as a cannon and wagon with cannon balls. To the rear of the image is a troupe of loin-clothed men descending on the altercation.

Forest scene at night with several groups of people surrounding a central tree. The upper group wear loin cloths and carry spears and swords. The bottom groups are mainly clothed in shirts, skirts and shorts, one carrying a drum, another a flag, yet another with a sacrificial pig in front of a fire. The central tree has bright yellow and orange leaves and a thick trunk, from which crawls a man. Two larger trees flank it, holding both dark and light green and leaves.
