Headdress3214/1

Woven headdress with fibre optic lighting. Band is made of wool, with red and black diagonal designs on an off-white background. Two cords of fibre optic lights are incorporated above both the red and black sections and connect to a battery power source at the back of the headdress. Brown fur lines the top of the piece, and the interior is covered in dark grey felt.

Ceremonial Club3194/31 a-b

Ceremonial war club. Club stick (part a) is long and relatively straight, covered in brown canvas and red felt. Ends are wrapped with narrow strips of fur. Top has an open loop created out of fur. Along the length of the stick are three tassels of horse hair, and several areas of blue glass beading, with the occasional inclusion of some brass beads. Part b is a round, hide wrapped stone. One half of the hide covering is painted dark blue. A braided thong of leather is sewn to the seams of the hide, and attaches two large cream and brown feathers and smaller red feathers with pink beading at the quills, and black glass beads around the thong, to the stone.

Female doll carved from wood, with arms articulated at the shoulders, and legs at the hips. Head is large, with carved facial features and ears, eyes and cheeks emphasized with paint. She wears a long brown cotton dress covered by a green and blue apron, with a knit brown and red shawl around her shoulders. A large metal pendant hangs from the tied closure of the shawl at her neck. Meal earrings are attached through holes in her lobes, and around her head is a metal link band decorated at front with a fabric bow. Wispy brown hair is attached to a black cap covering her head.

Knit doll. Doll's neck and head are a knit light tan tube, stuffed, with a blue hat atop long brown braids. Eyes, nose and mouth are embroidered in yarn. Dress is knit in horizontal lines of pattern in zigzag and 'x' motifs, with green scalloping at wrists and hem. At the waist are sewn two small child dolls, male and female, both wearing hats, the girl in a dress similar to her mothers, the boy in pants and a sweater. All three wear orange shoes, and have a Peruvian coin sewn to the stomach of their clothing.

Woven wool belt with ornament. Belt is woven with images of a woman, plants, and an animal, interspersed with bars and decorative motifs in light tan on a red background, appearing in opposite colours on the reverse side. Green, pink, and yellow stripes run the length of the garment. From a fine cord at the bottom of the belt hangs a metal ornament depicting several masked figures in low relief. The other end of the belt has several braids attached to each other at their ends.

Wire and fur “ice worm” toy. A long piece of animal skin with the fur on it has been sewn around a long length of wire, which emerges from both ends. The fur is thick with long hair, in shades of brown with off-white. An oblong head has been created out of hide and protrudes from one end of the tail, with leather antennae, eyes, nose and beard, and a red felt tongue.
