The paper image on some of the blocks has become detached from the top surface. Blocks without paper images have painted characters in the centre.

Stand that has been stained black and is cylindrical in shape. The stand has a flat top surface with a slight lip, three wide feet that follow the curve of the sides, and a cut out geometric design on the sides. Stamped "Made in Japan."

Lid (b) has decoration consisting of legendary animal surrounded by peonies; main colours are gold and green on a deep brown ground; label on lid and bowl say Made in Japan. Bowl (a) has a tiered black exterior and a smooth dome-shaped red interior.

Series of lacquered boxes that are black on the outside and red on the inside. Parts a,b,c and d fit together to form a rectangular unit; part f is a box base and part e is its lid. Part g is a sealed box with two holes diagonally opposite corners of the top (?) surface that are decorated with metal.
