Artwork representing a carver’s adze (part a) and two glass mauls (parts b-c). The adze blade is made of glass, the handle is maple, painted black. Handle is mostly cylindrical, but narrows towards the top, coming to a point. The blade is oblong, flaring out near the bottom edge, attached to hafting platform with thin, clear plastic twine. More plastic twine wrapped around the handle, near the bottom, to form a handgrip. Artist signature and year engraved into blade, directly below the twine. The larger maul (part b) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Both ends are flat. The other maul (part c) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Top has tall, rounded point in centre. Bottom end is flat. Artist signature and year engraved along the bottom edge of both mauls, on the centre back.
Wood pendant (hei tiki) of a stylized human figure. The figure's head is tilting to its right. The large circular eyes have shell inlay. Both hands are on its thighs. A braided cord is tied through a hole at the middle of the forehead.
Dog whip made of sea mammal hide, with a wooden handle. The handle has a notch around the bottom with a strip of skin threaded through, and secured at the other end through a hole. The top of the handle is a combination of skin tied together, and being wrapped. On one side, there is a large rounded notch. From the handle, the whip is composed of many layers of skin that are stitched together, with the whip becoming increasingly thinner as it progresses towards the tip. The skin is knotted close to the tip.
Wooden shuttle. The shuttle's boat-style rectangular body has a large rectangular cutout, and an eye on one side. Each end of the body tapers to a slightly-upturned and dull point. Within the rectangular cutout, there is a wooden pin inserted through a bobbin, with the pin's tip inserted into a hole on one side, and the square end held in the notch.
Unpainted wooden canoe paddle. T-shaped grip. Diamond shaped blade with a rounded tip. The shaft is cylindrical at the centre, but flattens at both ends where it meets the blade or grip.
Hand puppet of a 'Boi (bull) Coração' character. The brown bull is carved from wood and covered with fabric. It has carved small ears, black horns, and a long black tail. Black eyes and nose, and nostrils are painted on. The bull has a silver applique bridle on its head. In place of legs, a tube of blue with red and yellow floral fabric extends down, with orange-yellow lace border, which is where the hand is inserted.
Hand puppet of a 'Capiroto' (devil) character. He has red skin with long skinny black horns that are tipped with red. He has a pointed chin with small goatee, large nose, circular black eyes, thin black moustache, and an open mouth with white and black teeth and missing teeth. His cheeks, nose and forehead are contoured with black. He wears a shiny black and red tunic with matching shiny black and red cape. One cuff of the tunic is red, and the other black. The fabric covered foam tubes are adhered to the hands. Operated by inserting a hand inside the body of the puppet to control its head and movements.
Hand puppet of a 'Dona Inês' character. Head and hands are carved from wood and painted. She has black skin, almond-shaped black eyes with the left pupil missing, a small triangular nose, an open down-turned mouth with bright red lips, and adhered white hair. Her fabric body / tunic is black with large pink flowers, and sleeves of red and white gingham. The fabric covered foam tubes are adhered to the hands. Operated by inserting a hand inside the body of the puppet to control its head and movements.

Mamulengo string puppet (marionette) of a 'Rosinha' character. Head, hands and feet carved from wood and painted. She has orange skin, an open mouth with red lips, and wide eyes with eyelashes. She has long, curly black hair. She wears pink floral pants and a long-sleeved red floral top. The fabric is adhered to the hands and head, and wrapped with shiny pastel green ribbon at the wrists, ankles, and around the waist. Attached by several black strings to a wooden T-shaped control bar.
