Mat1758/3

Round, flat mat with a scalloped edge encircling it. Edge is a strip of green, woven to body of mat. Design on mat is of two whales, men in a boat and a bird encircling a green star-like shape. Two circles of design surround central figures, with the inner design consisting of brown and orange flying birds and the outer design consisting of a zig zag. Colour on bottom of mat is more vibrant than colour on top.

Box935/4 a-b

Cylindrical box of birch bark with quill designs. Bottom piece has vertical white quills covering bottom 2/3 of sides and grass lining rim that is held on by black thread. Lid of box has grass wrapped around bottom half of the sides and white vertical quills on top half that spill over onto the top and form a triangular zigzag pattern around the top edge. A black bird is done in quill on the top of the lid.

Ovular box with straight sides; lid sits inside the box and has a lip that rests on rim. Part a (bottom) has grass lining top and bottom edges that is stitched on with black thread. Centre of sides is decorated with vertical white quill work. Base of box is also rimmed in grass. Part b (lid) has grass around edge of top face and in the centre has a brown beaver on white ground done in quill.

Heart-shaped fibre bundle basket; sides created by bundled sweet grass coiled around in a continuous spiral and held together with a lashing of dark brown thread. Sides flare outward from a birch bark base decorated with a floral design of yellow and purple circles and crosses in quill work, much of which is missing. Coiling interrupted by openwork pattern formed by bundled grass stitched into one zigzag.

Flat bottomed, circular woven basket with straight, vertical sides and a flat, fitted lid. Lid has a radial woven design with the red-coloured strips used for the warp overlapping at the centre. Basket's bottom is made from overlapping, thick, bright red strips. Top rim of basket features a broad band of bright red weaving. Bottom rim of lid is woven with a single, thin strip of red material.
