The container is also held together with four bands of twisted bamboo, two at the top edge, and two at the base. A stopper (b), also a tapering cylinder, fits into a hole in the the lid (part c). Reddish-brown finish overall.

Six twisted bamboo bands secure the staves, two near the top and four at the bottom. The top (c) has a stopper (b) that fits into a hole near the edge. Stained reddish-brown with black painted Japanese characters on the outside of each arm. Painted with a red band across the top. The base (d) is loose in the container.

Stand that has been stained black and is cylindrical in shape. The stand has a flat top surface with a slight lip, three wide feet that follow the curve of the sides, and a cut out geometric design on the sides. Stamped "Made in Japan."
