Pants2615/15

Woman's orange pants with drawstring waist (drawstring not included here). Fabric is an orange paisley print. Pants are very roomy in the lower torso, but taper in the leg where they are cut off just below the knee. The cuffs are banded with silver-threaded embroidery.

Dress2615/14

Orange-coloured dress made from a paisley patterned material. The dress has a long flared skirt, a jagged neckline with silver machine-embroidery and puffed sleeves which taper to a cuff that sits just above the elbow. Gold rickrack ribbon is sewn at the collar, and bordering the sleeves and skirt. Straps attached at the sides of the waist tie at the back, and snaps are used across the left shoulder.

Blouse2615/10

Open-backed blouse with iridescent purple and grey patterned bodice, machine-stitched with red thread, and a white and red patterned breast piece interwoven with silver thread with small spots of dark green. Short sleeves are trimmed with silver lacy ribbon and a thick band of coarser cross-hatched white and red fabric interwoven with silver thread. The back is tied with two sets of red ties at the neck and across the back. The blouse is lined with a brown, black, green, turqhoise and orange patterned cotton fabric.

Fitted blouse with scoop neck, three-quarter length sleeves and button down-front. The sleeves are puffed and the bottom is cut off just below the bust. The fabric is a navy blue polyester with pink and red banded stripes grouped in pairs alternating with bands of stylized orange flowers.

Burgundy-coloured women's head cloth, hemmed on one side and machine-edged with white thread on another. Cloth has a green tie-died stripe on two sides and abstract decorative patterning made with tiny orange squares on the body of the cloth. Maker's mark in two places (see file).

Head Cloth2615/5

Woman's synthetic machine printed head cloth. Red with diagonal cross-hatching pattern filled with double teardrop design in green, orange and white. Square, circle and abstract designs (including dove, floral, elephant and cross motifs) make up the centre of the hatching. Similar designs without the cross-hatching align the borders of the cloth. Teardrops excluded, all patterns are formed using tiny squares with red centred dots. Machine-edged white thread along the two shortest sides. Maker's mark watermarked along one side. Some irregularities in printing process.

Political Textile2590/4

Large contemporary, commemorative cloth with a repeating pattern, consisting of images of the former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, and Bill Clinton, then President of the USA. Each image is contained within ovals, which open to each other where they meet. Text written under each figure designates their name and rank. The rest of the pattern consists of the Ghanaian flag of red, yellow and green, intertwined with each other and set at a diagonal with a black star at the centre. The background consists of gold mottling. The bottom edge of the cloth has a horizontal black line with vertical black lines, which form small peaks. Cloth is thin with a slight stiffness.

Large contemporary, commemorative textile with a repeating pattern of blue geometrical shapes, dots, and horizontal bands of heart-shapes. Along the bottom and top there is red text. Two horizontal rows predominate in the middle. Each alternates an image of a man contained within a red circle with a square red, blue, and white emblem with an elephant with a blue outline in it. Text appears in the circles with the images in black; within the squares in white; in the background in red (not in English). Cloth is thin with a slight stiffness.

Funeral Textile2590/1

Large contemporary, commemorative textile with repeating pattern in the background of alternating Adinkra symbols. Along the top and bottom edge there is a band of repeating Adinkra symbols. The middle has a row of circular images depicting a seated man encircled by text. Above and below this row, there is a row of circular images of weapons, alternating with circular images of a porcupine on a stool. There is text within these circles. There is a label in the lower left corner from the manufacturer.

Necklace1550/1

White, black, red and blue beaded necklace with beaded fringe at the bottom. Necklace is comprised of a single band of beading, with repeated imagery of a whale pursued by whalers. Above the beaded fringe at the bottom of the necklace is a large image of a thunderbird with outstretched wings.
