The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Round, tall, woven basket. From a wide mouth, the basket curves in at the neck, flares out again at the shoulder, then tapers slightly down to a rounded base. The bottom has an 8 point star-shaped design, and the body is circled with two prominent, dark, zigzagging lines surrounding standing human figures and four legged animals with long upright ears. Triangles and more four legged animals decorate the neck of the basket.
Knife (part a) with long steel blade. Top edge at blade tip is carved out in notched pattern and the blade itself curves slightly lengthwise. Base of bone handle has interwoven wires wrapped around it, upper area has incised designs and tufts of pink, black and off-white hair sticking out of protrusion openings. The wood scabbard is made of two pieces held together with 15 encircling dark brown grass bands. There are also two designs of interwoven light and dark grass forming circular patterns. The wood of the scabbard (part b) has two areas of incised designs and four areas with pink, black and off-white hair tufts. At the back of the scabbard is a thin pod-like sheath attached, which has a woven grass handle and a string attached through a slit. A piece of stiff folded pig skin(?) protrudes from the bottom opening of the scabbard. There is a group of tufts of hair at the bottom of the scabbard. The wood of the scabbard appears to have been stained.
Knife with long blade and highly decorated scabbard. The blade has carved designs near tip and near handle. Bone handle has inter-woven wires wound around lower part and incised designs covering upper part. Tufts of pink, dark brown and off-white hair are attached at protrusions of handle. Blade has blackened throughout all non-sharpened areas. Part b is a wooden scabbard with four large areas of inlaid bone carving covering much of front, attached by bent metal pins. The bone carving closest to top has a fang-like protrusion sticking sharply out. Between the carvings are many tufts of red, black and white hair and two beadwork bands. The sides are held together with grass bands. At back is a thin pod-like sheath, attached by a grass band and by the woven handle protruding through an opening in the sheath. Dark brown pitch(?) is rubbed over the edges and undecorated areas of the front of the scabbard.
