Blouse3295/35

Short button-up blouse made of a sheer off-white fabric. Six plastic(?) pearl-like buttons secure the front of the blouse. The hem, cuffs, sleeves, neckline are embroidered with small flowers in off-white floss, and cut-outs within every loop. The back of the blouse is embroidered with an ornate floral design, which extends down to the lower back, in off-white floss.

Jacket3295/12

Long open-front man's jacket, with side slits from the hem up to the waist. Jacket sewn from a dark blue fabric with red trim. The cuffs are embroidered with bands of red and grey, and repeating rows of dark blue and grey geometric designs. The collar and the jacket's tail are embroidered with rows of purple, grey and dark blue geometric designs within red and grey bands. A red plush fabric outlines the collar's embroidery, and eight beaded tassels with long pink-red threads hang from the back of the collar. A vertical rectangle of embroidery decorates the upper back. The interior is lined with a light blue cross-hatched fabric, with exception to the sleeves, which have pieces of blue floral, stripes, or beige and small rose-coloured fabrics.

Coat3295/52

Long coat with an open front. There is a loop closure on the chest. The hem, opening, and neck are bordered by bands of plaited bright green and black stripes, and then black or brown embroidery. A single round fabric embellishment is on each side of chest, decorated with metallic threads, small tassels, and beading. A single row of six white buttons decorates the back of the neck. A train is formed from two long pieces of fabric, which extend back from each shoulder, and join together at their ends where they are decorated with the same plaited green and black stripes and three buttons. The coat's interior is lined with multiple calico(?) fabrics. There are small strips of embroidery sewn down the interior edges of the coat's opening.

String Puppet3307/2 a-c

String puppet (marionette) of the character taw belu (jungle ogre), the man-eating ogre or demon. The figure has green skin, wears a gold helmet, and has large fangs protruding from the mouth. Both hands are clenched with an opening through the centre to insert something for the figure to hold. The figure wears a shiny green top with thin strips of plaited gold cord crossing overtop. The pants are embroidered with designs in orange, white and yellow-green. The outfit is further embellished with fabric cut-outs decorated with sequins, beads and plaited cord. The figure wears blue velvet slippers. There are also two (separate) diamond-shaped, wooden daggers (parts b-c) painted gold.

String Puppet3307/1 a-b

String puppet or marionette myin (white horse) character consisting of a horse (part a) and saddle (part b). The horse is composed of many wooden parts, which are attached at the joints by string or nails. The mane and tail are made of plant fibre. The bridle and saddle are made of woven and velour fabrics, decorated with sequins, beads, tassels and embroidery. The horse is white with black hooves and is decorated with orange and yellow patterns. The horse is attached by many grey strings to a wooden control bar composed of a single long piece of wood with three cross-bars. The saddle (part b) is covered with red velvet, and has two long nails to attach to the horse.

Pipe3239/10 a-b

White ceramic pipe bowl (part a) with a partly handmade wooden stem (part b). Outside of bowl is oblong and upright, painted on front with a green and brown scene of a buck walking through a forest. The bowl sits inside one arm of the ceramic double shank, with the thin wooden stem emerging from the other. Bit and lip appear to be made from a plastic-like material (possibly added later). A thin tie of twisted wool in green and tan is attached where bowl meets shank.

Navy blue cotton with linear embroidery and multicolour applique. Woven strap along top with string of red beads and an engraved coin-like bead. Appliqued section features embroidered band with alternating triangular design in centre, horizontal bands above and vertical sections on either end. Section of bottom features braided fringe and embroidered buttons attached to strings of beads with alternating coloured tassels.

Apron Ornament3271/3

Men’s apron ornament. Ornament is made of woven red yarn, with a short waist band and long ties that fasten at back. From waist hang three flaps of approximately 10 cm in length, white cowrie shells attached by plastic thread to the hem. At their bottoms hang long, thick tufts of straight animal hair, ranging in colour from light yellow-brown to dark brown or black.

Rosary beads. Stone beads strung on plastic fibre are green with veins of white, mainly square in shape with a few flat pieces intermixed. At bottom is a flat diamond made of the same stone, with a very small hole bored into bottom point to which is tied a white tassel.
