Flat fan made of finely-split bamboo flaring out from its attachment point to a long wooden handle painted black. Perimeter of fan is circular except for the lower edge where the handle is attached, which is straight and at right angles to handle. Fan is covered with lacquered paper with a design of three swirls converging at the centre, coloured red, green, and yellow. It has a narrow edging of black paper. The fan is inserted into a split in the handle, which is flat and shaped like a pointed oval where it covers the fan, which is attached with two rivets. The shape of the handle is repeated with an outline of orange paint on the fan.
A black brimless hat, light brown on the inside, with an oval opening for the head. Made of fabric pasted over heavy paper, lacquered black which has then been cut and folded to form the hat which is held together by lacing with a heavy twisted cord at the back. The two cuts form diagonal lines at each side, ending in two points at the upper front. There is a fold parallel to the wearer’s shoulders across the top of the hat, from which a straight-sided flap forms the outside of the back. This is attached to the ends of the wrapped front panel at the centre back with lacing. A narrow edging of paper is pasted along the lower edge of the hat. Small tassels of twisted yellow silk cord at the back. There is lacing of grey-white paper cord.

A robe (part a) of dark blue silk gauze fully lined with the same material in light blue. Robe opens at the right front side with the left front panel overlapping the right-hand panel secured at the top with a single toggle, below which, there are wide ties, two of each colour, attached to each panel. The neck is round with a white insert that is higher at the back. The robe is formed of slightly flared panels and has an inverted pleat at each side, above which, there is a belt loop on the right side and a tie to hold the belt on the left. The wide sleeves are rounded at the front and the back bottom edges and have interfacings at the openings to reinforce them. At the upper centre front and back of the robe, there are sewn rectangular embroidered cloth badges, each of which has a white crane in the centre with stylized red, pink, purple, green cloud forms above, and rock forms below on a black background. The back of the badge is lined with paper pasted in place.

Above this she wears a short greenish-yellow jacket with burgundy outer neck facing and wristbands, and narrower white neck facing. This is tied with burgundy ribbons in a single-loop bow. She wears shoes with pointed, upturned toes painted pink with a black linear and loop design, and socks of white ramie.

The hair is painted black on the crown of the head with a braid of stiff black hair attached to the back of the head. The hair is braided with a strip of blue-green silk, and the braid is tied at the top with a band of burgundy silk doubled over so that there are no raw edges. The figure is dressed in a pink long-sleeved silk robe with a white neckband, over which is a long gored blue silk vest fastened with a single round glass button and secured with a burgundy silk cord at underarm height. The figure wears pink shoes with black ornamentation, white leg wrappers, and long white underpants with a white loincloth, above which is a short white under-jacket.
Padded under-trousers of fine white cotton fabric, lined with coarser off-white fabric. Pants are angled out from the pleated waistband to the ankles. Waistband opening at the back, attached to narrower long ties. Pleats face towards centre seams, front and back. Flared panels are attached to each side of the back opening, which is carried on in the open inner leg seam, sewed together just above the ankle. Dark blue ribbons of shiny silk are attached to each inner leg seam at the bottom. There is a horizontal seam in the outer white fabric at about knee level.

Over these is a full-length green silk gored coat lined with white silk, white cotton cuffs, outer neck facings that are burgundy, white, and pink from the outside in, and burgundy panels under the arms. At the top of the centre back is pasted a white rectangle that is wider at the lower end. The sides of the coat meet at the centre, and it is tied at the top with double ties in a single loop bow, one pair pink and the other burgundy. Below the ties are three spherical buttons with loop buttonholes. She wears shoes with pointed, upturned toes covered in pink fabric and painted with a black linear and loop decoration.

Each panel is finely embroidered with an arch shape open at the top made up of flowers, leaves, and four multi-coloured butterflies, one of which is near the bottom while the other is near the top of the side of the arch shape. One butterfly is in profile and the other with wings spread. The flowers are predominantly in shades of blue and green. Some details are couched in gold thread. Within the arch are four wide v-shapes of embroidered flowers and leaves opening toward the centre of the panel.
