Bifacially flaked obsidian point. The tip is broken off and point isasymmetrical. Tangs on stem are missing, base is concave. The point is corner- notched with shorter barb on left side and a long barb on the right. Right edge of numbered face is concave with a bump near the middle and is 2.3 cm long. The left edge is straight. The un-numbered face has ash adhered to it. R.Williams 5/12/98
Black obsidian side-notched point with a concave base. M.Christopher 10/16/1998. Dr. Dennis Jenkins, University of Oregon, sent this specimen to Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Laboratory, Corvalis, OR for analysis (on loan 11/30/98 - 4/9/99). A portion of this specimen was removed for obsidian hydration. The source of raw material was determined to be Massacre Lake/Guano Valley. Northwest Research Obsidian Lab placed a paper tag in the specimen bag with the following information: [Lab Contract #] BO-98-91 [Catalog #1989-57/35-M-] 80 [Collection Name] Bergen [Analysis] Specimen No: 38 [Source Location] Massacre Lake/Guano Valley See also the following report from Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Lab for more detailed analytical data: Skinner, Craig E. and Jennifer J.
