Tapa Cloth681/1

Large rectangular tapa cloth with handpainted designs in light and dark brown on natural coloured ground. In the centre are ‘X’ motifs, flanked on each side by church-like buildings and surrounded by stars and dots. Towards the ends are forest scenes. Each end has four squares, some containing numbers to show where cuts are made during special ceremonies.

Tapa Cloth556/1

Tapa cloth with two shades of brown on natural ground. In the centre are eight panels with diagonal lines containing letters. Flanking the centre panels are many blocks containing floral motifs. Both ends have short pairs of diagonal lines and numbers. The cloth is made of several large strips attached together.

Headdress composed of a piece of tapa cloth with rounded corners and decorated with bands of zigzag in red ochre. Woven and wound string with a linear pattern in light grey Job's Tears seeds and segments of black bamboo. The exposed string is rubbed with red, black and yellow pigment (?).
