The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Whale tooth on a twisted cord of coconut fibre and mulberry fibre(?). The interior of the cord is a reddish-brown fibre, which is wrapped in greyish-white fibre. The cord runs through a hole bored in the tooth, and is loosely knotted at the ends. A human figure, two feathers or leaves and part of a human face are carved into the polished surface of the tooth.
Gourd carrier of a plaited and twisted coconut fibre. The sling consists of two plaited cords, which are knotted, creating a diamond-shaped pattern. On each side, two small lengths of plaited cord attaches the net to the handle, and each is decorated by a carved bone(?) human figure (tiki). The greyish handle is of twisted fibre, knotted on each end. (Small piece of tape with collector number adhered to handle.)
