Cylindrical, dark brown-black wood handle that curves around at a forty degree angle to create a rounded head with a point at one end. The head is pineapple-shaped with a long spike. The head has six horizontal bands of multiple blunt conical protrusions. A long, conical point extends outward to the tip end. Radial grooves are around the neck. The handle is covered with a black and light-coloured woven sleeve. Black finish.

Thin, cylindrical, brown wood handle that has a disc-like finial at the end. Palm fibre is wound around the handle at the end and under the disc-like finial. Head is carved in a ten-pointed star-like shape with a round boss in the centre.

Headdress on four posts with overall conical shape, a spiked rim and four evenly spaced bands of spikes made with leaves running up the bottom tier, four arms with double sarrated edges at the top of the bottom tear each protruding out at an angle with dangling elongated shapes at the tips, and the tip is ornamented with fibre that splays outwards just below a guft of short brown and white feathers and two long, curved black feathers. The posts are covered with fibres attached around each post just below the rim of the headdress. The headdress is clay painted with off-white, reddish-brown and black geometric designs.

Model house on stilts with a door, a wooden plank floor, and a plain gable roof. Constructed from palm leaves folded over wooden sticks and secured with thin sticks woven through slits in the leaves, and these are secured over a wooden frame with twined plant fibre.

Basket (b) and lid (a) made from coiled palm leaf with dyed black palm leaf in a ring on the lid, and alternating with natural palm leaf near the rim of the base with a thick band of black woven palm leaf in warp and weft weaving interspersed with bands of palm leaves running vertically. Rounded, circular flaring, fibre woven container that has a bowl shape. Exterior has intricate white beadwork on cloth backing in geometric horizontal, concentric bands. Lower beadwork is 5.6 cm. deep. with 'extending' beads above, and a pattern of x's, zig zag, x's, x's, x's, and vertical lines at the centre. Upper beadwork is 2.5 cm. with a pattern of vertical pairs of lines with a light blue band underneath, x's, and 'dangling' beads below.

Hat with conical shape that is made from woven stem with five ridges at the top that holds a series of leaves to the outer sides over an inner structure made of woven stem. The rim is formed by a strip of bamboo(?) held onto the hat with strips of woven stem. Painted with three evenly spaced yin and yang symbols in red, black and off-white on a grey ground, and the sections of the woven peak are painted in light grey, green, black, brown and red. The rim is red.

Hat made of leaf sewn together with plant fibre and stem and bell-shaped overall. The rim, which has a short indented section, is sewn with twined plant fibre(?) stitches that form a braided edge, and the sides of the hat are stitched together in rows with twined plant fibre(?). The roughly circular piece of leaf at the top of the crown is stitched on with thick pieces of plant stem(?). There is a fibre strap inside with a metal coin attached.

Cantonese Opera ShoesN1.756 a-c

Pair of shoes and one tie. Leather sole, raised wooden heel (2" h.) painted green. Uppers: metallic thread and twisted cord braid appliqued 4 1/2" either side of toe, 1 1/4" deep, enclosing woven raffia applique. Colours: deep pink, gold, and black. Braid appliqued around top of uppers, and twisted and appliqued down centre of toe. Colours: pale green and beige. At heel: black cotton extension, appliqued 4 3/4" above uppers 4 3/4" w. All on black ground. Black cotton loop on either side, attached to uppers where extension joins. Cotton lining. Padded cotton insole. Separate red tie (part c). (Other tie is missing.)
