Bowl2695/37 a-b

Wooden bowl (part a) and lid (part b), painted with a red-black lacquer. The bowl has a tall foot supporting flared sides. The exterior bowl is reddish-black; the foot and interior are solid black. The lid is dome-shaped with a centre round handle, mimicking the bowl’s foot. The exterior lid is reddish-black; the handle and interior are solid black.

Writing EquipmentM4.26 a-d

Paper case holding items used for writing. The thick paper is painted then covered with a coat of lacquer. The image on the case (part a) depicted is a miniature of a woman standing with an umbrella. Her appearance is a representation of the Safaviya period in Iran. Each side has two students seated while being taught by an older, male teacher. Bottom is red with gold border. Part b has a landscape image on the end while the rest is red with a black border. Part c is a metal container with a lid that contains pieces of fibre used to make ink. Part d is metal spoon with a leaf like bowl.

Full suit of armour, including leggings, skirt, tunic and helmet. Bands of lacquered bamboo are threaded together to form a flexible unit. Parts are padded and embroidered. Black plates with grey silk cord. Lined with blue floral damask fabric. Medieval style. Predominantly black, with blue and green accents.

Stylized female figure holding a baby. The face is triangular with triangular feature carved around the front of her head and knobs at the top of her head for hair. Has oblong eyes and a wide, vertically rectangular nose with a thin mouth, and ears. Horizontal rings around her long neck. The baby straddles its legs around her hips. On a black base.
