Circular wood drum frame with animal skin stretched over the top and bottom. Skins are laced together with thin strips of cane, creating a zigzag pattern around sides of frame. Light-coloured trident design on batter head, along top edge; resonant head is undecorated. Looped tie threaded through cane strips along top edge of frame, for hanging purposes; carved wood handle extends from bottom edge of frame. Handle is cylinder-like in shape, with a pointed bottom. Three heads circle top edge of handle with six decorated rings below. Rings are an assortment of bulbous, angled and flat shapes; decorations are incised lines, geometric motifs and raised scallops. Point of handle has three sides; bird beak, snake and intertwined rivers decorate sides. Drum contains a rattle.
Small dance skirt(?) with fringe composed of numerous, short thin strips of grass woven into a waistband. Band is made up of twisted fibre; two cords of knotted fibre on each end. Fringe has a repeating stripe pattern of dark purple, dark orange and green.
Cassowary feather headdress consisting of a curved, braided band with twisted ties on either end. Multiple feathers are bound tightly to pieces of reed(?) and the bundles are woven into two layers along the band. Feathers at front are red-brown and black; back feathers are a mix of white and light brown. Additional layer of bound reeds woven along back of band.
Carving of a female figure standing on an oval-like base (part a). She stands with her feet shoulder width apart, hands at her hips; depicted wearing a grass skirt and assorted jewellery made of twisted fibre and circular shells(?). Her face has linear and curvilinear designs painted across it in white; eyes are inset cowrie shells. Hair is black, with a white band painted underneath. Large hornbill sitting on top of woman’s head; neck is extended with head tilted back. Head and neck of hornbill are yellow, rest of body is black; eyes are inset cowrie shells. A crocodile, balanced on its tail, supports the back of the female figure; painted black. Two snakes stretch from her shoulders and have their heads resting against the base; done in black with white and orange stripes. All animals have intricately carved features; hornbill has additional curvilinear designs. Top of base is a light orange; sides have a channel carved into them, with ovals carved in relief throughout. Donor tag attached to snake on right side of base. Conical corroboree dance hat made of bark; exterior is completely wrapped in green-grey rope-like fibre. Front is decorated with a wide, vertical orange band, bordered with two white bands; small feathers throughout bands. A wooden rod is inserted through the top of the hat and has a large bundle of emu(?) feathers bound to it; feathers held in place with white strands, rod secured with white pigment along hat interior. Feathers are a mix of grey and dark brown.
Comb consisting of two wooden bars and grass(?) fibre teeth. The fibres are inserted into the top bar and are separated from one another with cotton strands; strands are woven into a repeating yellow and black zigzag pattern. Bottom of the weaving is anchored to the second bar, which is wrapped in green thread. Teeth extend past the lower bar and are undecorated. Stiff braided ties secure bars together, on either side of weaving.
Comb consisting of two horizontal bars and grass(?) fibre teeth. The fibres are inserted into the top bar, made of bone, and separated from one another with cream-coloured cotton strands; strands are woven into a repeating concentric diamond pattern. Bottom of the weaving is anchored to the second bar, made of wood, which is wrapped in cotton. Teeth extend past the lower bar and are undecorated. Stiff braided ties secure bars together, on either end of weaving; ties wrapped in cotton. Red and yellow feathers inserted into either end of bone bar.
Carved wooden face mask with a large nose protruding out from the centre. Painted mainly in black and blue, with large red nostrils and a pattern of red dashes at both upper sides. Round open eyes and an open slit at the mouth. Chin unpainted. Braided cedar bark rope attached all around the edges; the braid meets at the top and is bound by a cotton twine. Half of the bark has been dyed red. Above the bound area the cedar bark sticks out over the forehead, as a loose bundle. Inside unpainted. Artist initials carved into wood (T inside the A). (Metal eye hook and plastic tied across back for hanging.)
Carved bamboo brush pot. Entire body of container depicts a man crossing a raging stream in a boat. He has a long beard, large ears, and is wrapped in a robe. Under his right arm he has a bundle of three scrolls, left arm is covered by cloak. To his right, there are waves in the foreground and a mountain in background, with trees at the peak. To his left are waves rolling towards him. The wave directly in front of him has a small smiling face. In the top left corner of the scene there are trees with low hanging branches. All designs are done in a mix of low and high relief. Openwork carving throughout. Base of container is concave.
Rigid cylindrical basket (part a) with a separate lid (part b). Body of basket made of bark, covered in woven strips of rattan(?). It has a wide circular opening and square base, with a short foot. Basket is shaped with four exterior coils of rattan(?) around the top third, and two rods along each side. Rods and coils are dyed dark red, and tied to the basket with plant fibre. Three decorative bands woven around basket; two towards opening, one along bottom edge. Top two bands have identical patterns consisting of a grid with a zigzag overtop, zigzag is made of connected diamonds; bottom band filled with horizontal chevrons. All designs are done in dark brown. Entire back of basket is covered with vertical strips of rattan(?). Long piece of bark cloth looped through strips, forming three straps. Label attached to interior of basket. Lid is made of animal skin and has a long lip, that fits over the top of the basket. It has an internal circular frame, made of bark. Skin is stretched over the frame and secured with a rattan(?) coil, dyed dark red, and plant fibre ties.
