Exterior of cup is decorated with seven animal and Buddhist figures in blue and red (underglaze) in front of a leaf shape on a white background. Border composed of symbols of longevity also in same colours. Interior of cup has an abstract floral design in blue.

Full length elderly male figure (part a) dressed in long robe in ox blood red and pale green glazes. He is carrying a small triangular banner in his left hand as his elbow is bent upward and outward. His white hair is tied up in a bun on top of his head. He has a long white moustache and beard. With wood stand (part b).

Sitting griffin (legendary animal) in blue grey glaze with horn at the top of his head. The griffin has a ferocious expression with its mouth open to reveal its teeth and fangs. Its head is turned to its left all the way around to face behind its body. The tail is curved around to its left hind leg. The whites of its spinal points are visible along its back.
