A fabric case that has a long rectangular shape with a three-lobed top on both sides. Both sides have a design consisting of two red bats on a predominantly black and white geometric-patterned background with a black and gold geometric-patterned border. The handle is made of red cord with a porcelain bead on either side. Both beads have a design consisting of red and orange flowers with green leaves.

A closing fan with nineteen inner ribs of ivory, interconnected with a white ribbon, and each having an elaborate carving of a lacey pattern with trees, human figures, and insects. The two parent ribs have a solid carving of either a floral design with birds or a landscape design with human figures. The fan has metal rivets.

Rectangular wooden box with dovetail joints, a hinged lid and a lock. Lid features a carved landscape scene with polychrome ivory figures--all are elaborately carved, painted, and gilded. Inside, the underside of lid is covered with padded silk and the bottom is covered with grey velvet; the silk padding is marked "Arthur and Bond Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Yokohama." There may have been a tray inside at one time.

There are three vertical rows of black Chinese characters and a red seal. The painting has a cream-coloured border of patterned fabric. There is a semi-cylindrical rod at the top with a grey cord bound by metal wire and cream-coloured fabric. There is a cylindrical rod weight at the bottom covered with a light-and-dark geometric patterned fabric.

White silk background embroidered with butterflies and moths, with flower, ribbon and tassel motifs at center and left and right of center. One selvedge, three raw edges. Chinese characters on reverse edge.

Six miniature figures of Chinese opera actors. Painted polychrome costumes of various styles. Faces are disguised with coloured paint to indicate different roles.

Procession of fifty miniature, polychrome metal figurines mounted on two strips of cardboard (parts a and b). Arranged in a two by two fashion, the first fourteen figures carry tall banners with either decorative strips or characters on them. The next ten figures, also arranged two by two, are playing various musical instruments. The following six figures are dressed in white tunics and carry large sprays of white hair. The remaining twenty figures are arranged evenly in front and behind a palanquin that they are carrying; the palanquin is ornately decorated with red, painted fabric and a large wreath.

Small vest with embroidery. The vest has a rounded neck and centre front opening with no closures. The embroidery encompasses the entire front and back. On the centre front and back, facing left towards the red sun, is a paradise flycatcher denoting a civil ninth rank official. Surrounding the bird are cloud, wave, bat motifs and the Eight Buddhist symbols of Good Fortune. Along the bottom hem is a gold meander border on black ground. The inside lining is blue silk.

Yellow robe with embroidery. The robe has a short standing collar, side slits and centre opening with frog closures. On the front, back and sleeves are embroidered butterfly motifs in blue and white. The inside lining is turquoise silk.
