Mask2821/14

Mask made of mud-covered fibre, decorated with pigment. The face is wide, with a protruding nose, a brow emphasized with a cord of fibre, and holes cut for the mouth and eyes. The face is decorated with lines of red and off-white pigment. Hide with fur attached to the mask by plant fibre, covers the top of the head and outlines the edge of the face. The interior of the mask has a support structure made of curved wooden rods tied together with fibre, supporting the mud and fibre front of the mask. Four pieces of furred hide hang down from the top rear of the mask.

Mask is circular in shape with one rounded end and one pointed end (overlapping underneath the head), and is made out of earth. It has brown-red, white, and light white-brown painted sections. It has a black painted face, white eyes with black pupils, a projecting nose, and a brown mouth with six painted teeth. At either side of the mouth is a long tooth projecting upwards. A long piece of grass(?) is attached at the top of the head.

Mask with red-brown humanoid face with a three-tiered headdress of overlapping petal-like forms. The face has heavy arched eyebrows that curl at the outer ends. The eyes are protruding and somewhat conical with rounded tops. The large nose has a bulbous tip and flared nostrils. The lips are drawn back from the teeth and are outlined with a black jagged design. Two upper and lower rows of pointed teeth are exposed with curved fangs at either side, and a tongue hangs out the front of the mouth. There is a rectangular motise hole at either side of the head, each with three small holes at top, bottom, and towards the front of the mask.
