Ivory coloured flute made of deer bone. Long hollow tube with a hole for the mouth, three finger holes along the side, and an open triangle shaped base. Flute is dark brown near the base and the mouth hole.
One end of the bone has eight nodules carved on the end. From this end, the bone has been carved along the length so that the bone narrows down to a dull point at the opposite end. Lengthwise on one side is a natural groove, 7 cm long, originating from the nodules. Lengthwise on the other side beginning 4.5 cm from the nodules the bone has roughly been broken away, exposing the inner cavity of the bone.
Deer Ulna Non-fish vertebrates from this bag were analyzed on site by Kris Bovy from January to February, 2006. The bones were analyzed in terms of taxonomic affiliation, abundance, and modification. They were sorted into five main categories: bird, mammal, reptile, amphibian, and unidentified. Bovy's full analysis sheets are attached to this record. NAB, 8/19/2009
