Fringed Bandolier with Floral Design43.201.63

Large, beaded floral pattern on white beaded background on the body and band of this bag. The band is wide with a maple leaf pattern on it. The body continues the maple leaf motif with the addition of flowers and a three leafed plant. The bottom edge of bag has 11 loom beaded squares dangling from the edge in beaded in geometric patterns with yarn tassles hanging from them.

This otter skin cap tail would generally be worn around the neck or attached to a choker. It has a side edge of loom beadwork in white with red and blue designs. The blue cloth heart on the top edge is edged in white and red and is beaded on the reverse side. The support material which is hidden by the fur is covered with reverse appliqué ribbon work which conceals the fur fold and seams.

Kachina Doll (Ata Ona)04.297.5357

This Kachina is one of a group that was commissioned and has not been clearly identified. He wears a helmet-style mask and a raised headband in the front. He has a tubular-shaped nose. The top of the head is decorated with feathers with an additional bunch tied near the neck. The figure is elaborately dressed with complete cotton shirt and skirt, both painted with traditional designs. The tall hide boots are fringed.
