Tumbuan body mask. Tall, conical, mask intended to fit over a dancer’s body is woven of rattan and wood, plastered with mud. Three faces are situated at front, the top being the largest and most prominent. It is oblong, with a pointed head, protruding ears, heavy brow, round shell eyes, and a large protruding flap for a nose. Around the jaw is attached a beard made of a thick layer of short grass. The two faces below are round, with holes for eyes. Ears, noses, beards and brows are similar to the oblong face’s. White feathers are attached to the nose of the bottom. Shells hang from the ears of the top and middle faces. Hand holes are cut into the object near bottom on sides, the left of which is covered with a fringe of long grass. Back is undecorated.
Large ceramic plate. Plate is broad and deep, flaring out from the round centre decorated with an incised sun motif, toward the crinkled rim. Twist designs are incised around the well. Plate has a glossy shine and is glazed green on rim and well, fading to orange at centre. The underside of the plate also has a shiny glaze, but is uncoloured and undecorated, remaining terracotta orange. Foot is low, inset and round, unglazed and undecorated.
Large ceramic candelabra. Seven round, bulbous sconces sit atop the candelabra, three ascending both sides to the central capital sconce at the peak. Their rims and drip pans are crimped. The multiple labra arms are thick, with curled protrusions, decorated with small incised lines along their lengths. The column has multiple levels, all round, becoming larger toward the base. Several of the levels are crimped, interspersed by bulbous portions. The surface of the object has a glossy shine and is glazed blue at top from sconces to midway down the column, fading to light green, then yellow and finally brown on the base. Interior is hollow, unglazed and undecorated.
Small female figure. The figure is very wide and flat. She has wide eyes, a pointy nose and is wearing a simple headdress. Her arms are held together in front of the body below her breasts, and her feet point straight forwards. There are remnants of white paint on the figure's chest and eyes, a light green on the headdress and skirt, and both red and black on the figure's face.
Large ceramic cup with handle. Body is round, bulbous at bottom and narrowing toward the shoulder. Rim flares out slightly and a handle spans from its edge to the body’s bottom. Foot is short, inset, and round. Designs have been incised onto the shoulder, in twist and pine needle patterns. Cup has a glossy shine, and is glazed blue at top, fading to green on the shoulder and orange on the body to the foot. Interior is uniformly blue.
Round ceramic pot with lid. Pot has a tall, round body, flaring from the small circular foot toward the wide shoulder, where sit two slab handles on each side. Neck is short, with a thick rim. Twist designs are incised around the shoulder. Surface has a glossy shine and is glazed green on rim and shoulder, and orange on body and foot. Lid (part b) is circular and rounded toward the top centre, where a squat handles sits. Incised twists encircle the lid. Colour at top of lid is orange, fading to green toward bottom. Interior of pot and lid is a shiny brown.
Large ceramic pitcher with handle. Pitcher has a tall, round body, flaring from the small circular foot toward the shoulder. Neck is tall, and surrounded at bottom with a pinched design. Rim flares slightly outward, with a small spout at front. A wide handle is attached at back of neck and spans downward to midway point of body. Designs have been incised onto the shoulder, in twist and pine needle patterns. Pitcher has a glossy shine, and is glazed blue at top, fading to green on the shoulder and orange on the body to the foot. Interior is uniformly blue.
Very large 'Tree of Life' sculpture made from clay in the shape of a densely branched tree with a thick trunk. Branches are unpainted, remaining an orange raw clay colour, while decorations are coloured using a wide variety of bright paints. Daisy flowers, leaves, and seeds are attached by metal pins planted into the clay. Among this dense foliage are small birds, the figures of Adam and Eve, angels, moon and sun, and god at top in front of a starry and cherub filled background. A large flower sits at centre of tree, with a spotted serpent wrapped around one petal. Back of tree is covered with the reddish slip but is undecorated.
'Tree of Life' sculpture made from clay in the shape of a densely branched tree with a thick trunk. Branches are painted blue and pink, with a dense covering of clay flowers and leaves attached to thin wires that are sunk into the tree. Amongst the foliage are placed a myriad of decorations, including toys, flags, a doll, mermaid, ponchos and scarves, baskets and vessels, a chair, butterflies and animals, a skeleton, and musical instruments, as well as a scene involving jumping men at centre top. A small plaque in pink and white with the logo of the Museum of Anthropology sits near the bottom.
Square tile of fibreboard with clay patterns on front. A border is made of alternating ‘x’ and ‘o’ shapes, small circles of mirror inserted into the centre of each ‘o’. At centre of tile is a daisy shape with mirrors inside each petal, surrounded by a circle with drop shapes extending toward the outside. Fine silver sparkles have been adhered intermittently across the surface of the tile. Rear side is undecorated.
