Orange-reddish lidded pot (parts a-b) with two chambers inside and a handle at either top side. Designs are in relief and impressed. Upper portion has a horizontal band of traingles that have lines within. Lower chamber exterior has seven loops all around decorated with chevrons. Just above these loops, there is a horizontal band of alternating triangles or chevrons and geometric bands. Lid (part b) is of a different colour, semi-round and hollow.

Pot3365/1

Dark brown, round clay pot with twin heads on top. Pot is glazed. The two heads have circular earrings and tall, brimmed headdresses that act as spouts for the pot. The heads are connected by the edges of their headdresses and at their ears. A third, smaller spout is behind the heads, in the centre back. Wrapped around the twin necks is a necklace with a low hanging pendant. Extending from the sides of the necklace are two arms, that wrap around to the front. The necklace and arms are done in high relief. In the circle of each arm there is a round protuberance. Across the entire pot there are various geometric designs made up of dots impressed into the clay.

Figure3368/1 a-b

Power figure (nkisi nkondi). Standing male figure (part a) with left arm down at side with hand positioned to hold something, his right arm raised with fingers curled to grasp a spear (part b). The figure has inset glass eyes with painted white pupils. The face is carved with an open mouth with bowed lips, a triangular nose, and large ears. The hair is striped black and orange-brown, and wrapped at the hairline with a plaited fabric band. The body is covered with rusted nails and small triangular metal blades. Strips of fabric are wound throughout the nails, with some bone fragments included. Attached to the chest and abdomen, one above the other, are two rectangular glass-front boxes containing plant fibres and other materials. The glass is covered by grey clay with inset small red beads, leaving a small circular area through which to view its contents, and is wrapped in twine. The figure stands on a rounded rectangular wood base with a large piece missing. The wooden spear has a cylindrical shaft and triangular tip, all carved from a single piece of wood.

Vessel3359/4

Brown-red clay vessel in the shape of an animal. Animal has two rounded ears, wide nose, parted lips, a short tail and four legs. Legs at the front are folded underneath the body and the two back legs are bent. Entire body of animal covered in spots. Spots and legs are done in high relief. Round spout on top of animal, in the centre of the vessel. Flat loop handle extending from back of animal to back of round spout. Base of vessel is slightly rounded.

Small clay jug with globular body, rounded bottom and two lug handles on the sides. Rim is bowl-shaped, surrounding a smaller mouth. There are two small protuberances on the front and back of the jug. The exterior is painted white-brown and there is a wide grey-brown band painted around the bottom portion of the jug. Above the large band there is a thin grey-brown line. The base is white. The base of the jug rim is grey-brown and there are grey-brown designs on the exterior of the rim. The interior of the rim is white and the interior body is unpainted.

Ancestor Figure3308/3

Glazed ceramic ancestor figure. Figure has a conical body with two holes where arms should be. Each arm hole has stamped triangles encircling it. The figure's head is shield-like and convex and attached at the tapered point of the body. The face is decorated with stamped facial features and a built up long rectangular nose. Tied to the head is a headdress made of woven white and red fishing net, with a single white and brown feather extending from the top. The figure wears a skirt with a fringe, knotted at the waistband. The skirt alternates between natural yellow-brown fibres, red fibres, and white net fibres. Around the waist and neck are two ceramic ornaments strung on twisted fibres. Within the body hang three light yellow glass skulls that are visible through the armholes. The artist's initials are carved into the figure's neck, and behind both the chest and waist ornaments - 'JKT'.
